Doug Gordon returns to drive in 2026 season

Gordon family racing continues top alcohol funny car campaign

    – Gordon Family Racing announced that Doug Gordon will return to drive the Beta Motorcycles Morro Bay Cabinets Chevrolet Camaro in the Top Alcohol Funny Car category in 2026. The announcement follows recent news that Maddi Gordon will join Ron Capps Motorsports as a Top Fuel driver next year.

Doug Gordon, a three-time world champion, will continue to compete with the same team members who have supported the operation for decades. Mike Gordon will remain responsible for tuning decisions, Macie Gordon will continue as engine builder and car chief, Cheryl Gordon will oversee day-to-day operations and parachute packing, and Christina Gordon will back Doug up at the line and assist Macie with engine service between rounds.

“It’s going to be a big change for our team with Maddi in Top Fuel. Even though she will not be working on the car between rounds we feel good knowing she will be at the track at the same time as us,” said Doug Gordon. “I have a feeling if we are working late, she will be there getting her hands dirty with us. Really excited for her and can’t wait to watch her grow.”

Plans are still being finalized to fill Maddi Gordon’s role on the crew. While she will no longer work on the car between rounds, the family noted that she will be present at events and remain part of the racing environment.

Gordon Family Racing will continue its pursuit of a national championship during the 2025 season, with Maddi Gordon driving.

Gordon Racing is a family-owned and operated drag racing team based in Paso Robles. The team has competed in the Top Alcohol Funny Car category since 1986.
