    Fort Hunter Liggett to host youth fishing derby on April 26 

    Children up to age 15 are invited to participate, regardless of skill level

    Fort Hunter Liggett will host its 23rd Annual Youth Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 26, from 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Del Venturi Pond. The free event is part of the post’s Month of the Military Child celebration.

    Children up to age 15 are invited to participate, regardless of skill level. Prizes will be awarded to participants who catch the largest fish in their respective age groups. No permit is required for youth anglers.

    Following the derby, fishing will remain open to the public at Del Venturi Pond. Adults who wish to fish must hold a valid California fishing license.

    The event is organized by Fort Hunter Liggett Family, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, with support from volunteers and sponsors, including A&G Plumbing, Azcona Harvesting, Boingo, IHG Hotels, L.A. Hearne Company, McDonald’s, Trout Unlimited, and USAA.

    Directional signage will be posted to guide attendees to the event location.
