Michael Anthony ‘Mike’ Johnson.
– Michael, Mike, Dad, Father, Papa – he was known by a lot of names! (This obituary is written by his Granddaughter, Gabrielle) Mike was born a couple years after the end of World War Two. His Dad fought in Italy, and his parents were married as soon as he came home to North Carolina.
Mike was interested in photography from a young age, and his parents supported his passion. He loved not just the artistry but the chemistry, and he went on to study chemistry in college. A friend introduced him to Rita a few years later. Unfortunately, he had just been hired to work for Kodak in Rochester, NY. They wrote letters back and forth until he finally convinced her to join him in Rochester. They married a few months later.
Michael and Rita had three children – Neil, Lisa, and Walter. Michael’s love of chemistry made him an excellent cook – most of the time. After many long years, Michael retired from Kodak. He and Rita moved to Florida – no more New York Winters! He was very active and always trying something new – he even learned how to Zoom! We will all miss Michael very much.
