    Cuesta College celebrates 1,211 graduates at May 23 event

    – Cuesta College will hold its 60th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo campus.

    This year, 1,211 students will graduate, having earned a total of 1,589 degrees. These include 717 Associate of Arts degrees, 230 Associate of Science degrees, 367 Associate of Arts for Transfer degrees, and 275 Associate of Science for Transfer degrees.

    Cuesta College currently offers 131 certificate programs and 89 associate degree programs. In addition, 39 of the degrees are designed to support direct transfers into the California State University system.

    “This milestone 60th commencement reminds us of the power of education to change lives,” said Dr. Jill Stearns, superintendent and president. “Each graduate has embraced opportunities, overcome challenges, and grown in ways that will shape their future and community. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this moment with them.”

    Of the graduating class, 599 students are from San Luis Obispo County high schools. A total of 388 students benefited from the Promise Scholarship, which provided two fee-free years at the college.

    The graduating class includes students ranging in age from 14 to 75. A total of 400 graduates earned honors or high honors with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Twenty students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.

    On May 20, the college held a traditional pinning ceremony for 49 nursing graduates at the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center. The event is available to view online at bit.ly/cuestarn2025.
