    hot weather

Temperatures could top out between 92 and 102 degrees across the region today

    – A heat advisory is in effect for the inland areas of San Luis Obispo County, including Paso Robles and other North County communities, as temperatures are expected to climb into the triple digits Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued the advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with highs forecast to reach 98 degrees in Paso Robles. Temperatures could top out between 92 and 102 degrees across the region, prompting warnings for those most vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.

Health officials urge residents to take precautions, including staying in air-conditioned spaces, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day. The very young, elderly, and those without air conditioning face the highest risk of heat-related illness.

The hot weather will give way to slightly cooler temperatures over the weekend. Saturday will see sunny skies with a high near 92 degrees and a low of 55. By Sunday, highs will fall to 78 degrees with overnight lows near 49.

Partly cloudy conditions are expected Monday, with highs around 72 degrees and lows near 50. Sunny skies return Tuesday, with temperatures rebounding to a high of 78. Wednesday and Thursday will see highs in the mid-70s to 80s, before temperatures climb again Friday to a high of 83 degrees.

Officials remind residents to check on neighbors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
