Letter: Locals show kindness after sidewalk fall in Paso Robles
To the editor,
– On the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend, my wife and I were visiting PR and enjoying a pleasant evening walk around your welcoming & vibrant city. Suddenly, I didn’t see the street cutaway in front of Street Side Ale House on Second St and did a non-Olympic qualifying face plant onto the sidewalk. While I was dazed for a bit and scraped up some… fortunately, I was not seriously hurt.
But, what we want for all of Paso to know is that my wife and I were amazed with the kindness and help that we received from 15-20 people who were in the area. But particularly, I would like to shout out to four individuals who stayed with me and supported me while my wife walked several blocks away to get our car. I was perhaps a little dizzy and unsteady, but these four young people were my heros.
Unfortunately, I did not get their surnames but I want to thank Emma, who just graduated from SLO this week, her fiance Hunter, who is a local Contractor in PR, and Chris, a Medical IT professional in Paso. Additionally, these three superheros were supported by Marissa, a waitress from Street Side, who immediately came to my rescue with towels and water for my bloody head and knee.
If you know who I am talking about by reading this, would you please give them my sincere gratitude and thanks for being people and a great representation of the people of Paso Robles. We’ll be back!
Sincerely, Jim Buckley, Los Altos, Calif.
