Paso Robles Library Cinema Club to screen ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’
– The Paso Robles City Library will host an in-person Cinema Club event on Friday, June 27 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Story Hour Room.
In honor of Father’s Day, the library will screen the classic 1963 adaptation of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” The film, directed by Robert Mulligan, has a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes.
The story follows 6-year-old Scout Finch, played by Mary Badham, and her older brother, Jem, played by Phillip Alford, as they spend their days in the quiet town of Maycomb, Alabama. With their friend Dill, played by John Megna, the children are fascinated by their mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley, played by Robert Duvall.
Their father, Atticus Finch, played by Gregory Peck, is a respected lawyer who defends Tom Robinson, played by Brock Peters, against a false rape charge. As the trial unfolds, the children witness the prejudice and racism that exists in their community.
Registration is required for this event. The library invites adults to join the monthly club on the fourth Friday of each month for a film screening, discussion and snacks.
