Studios on the Park hosting tango-themed lecture and dance
Free event explores how tango offers insights into communication and leadership
– A free tango-themed event titled Arts Around Us: Tango Lessons for Life will take place on Aug. 3 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Studios on the Park in Paso Robles.
The program will be led by physician, dancer and author Jeannette Potts, who will present ideas from her book, Tango: Lessons for Life. Potts explores how the dance steps of Argentinian tango can serve as metaphors for listening, communication and leadership.
The event will include musical performances, song, dance and a lecture component. Potts has shared similar material in previous international lectures. The session will also cover tango’s history and musicology while encouraging attendees to reflect on their communication styles.
Potts will be joined by her tango instructor, the artistic director of Chicago-based Tango 21, and local classical musicians Jorge Niedas, Grace Seng, Hilary Clark and Susan Azaret Davies. Dancers in attendance will be invited to take part on the dance floor during the finale.
Attendees are asked to RSVP by emailing contact@studiosonthepark.org.
