Deputies arrest barricaded suspect after Paso Robles incident
Victim treated for injuries following domestic violence incident
– The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on July 8 following a domestic violence incident and hours-long barricade at a residence in the 800 block of Golden Meadow Drive.
At approximately 5:41 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an in-progress domestic violence situation. Upon arrival, deputies contacted an adult female victim who had exited the residence. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Enrique Rubio, remained inside and refused to come out. After deputies confirmed that no one else was in the home, Rubio began barricading himself inside.
The victim was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
Deputies established a perimeter around the residence. Despite repeated commands to surrender, Rubio did not comply. The Sheriff’s Office deployed its unmanned aerial systems team, crisis negotiation team, and special enforcement detail to the scene.
The crisis negotiation team attempted to establish communication with Rubio and encouraged him to surrender. At approximately 10:16 p.m., Rubio exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
Rubio was arrested on charges of false imprisonment (Penal Code 236), corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant (Penal Code 273.5(a)), and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury (Penal Code 245(a)(4)).
Authorities stated that this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
