City hosts ribbon cutting for reopening of Royal Oak Meadows Park
Improvements include basketball court, parking lot, and picnic area
– The City of Paso Robles will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 30 at 10 a.m. to mark the reopening of Royal Oak Meadows Park following the completion of major improvements. The event will take place in the playground area off Parkview Lane at the park, located at 1750 Airport Road.
Improvements to the 2.4-acre neighborhood park include the construction of a full basketball court, a parking lot, a new playground to replace the former tot lot, a shaded picnic area and enhancements to the walking path and turf areas.
Royal Oak Meadows Park is located east of Airport Road and south of Parkview Lane. The park offers active and passive recreation facilities and is available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Like other neighborhood parks in Paso Robles, it does not include restrooms but provides green space, picnic areas and open play areas for public use.
The upgrades are part of the Olsen-South Chandler Ranch Specific Plan Development, which will eventually connect Royal Oak Meadows Park to a new park section located east of the current site via an eight-mile bike and walking path. The new section will be along an extension of Parkview Lane.
“Neighborhood parks play a vital role in bringing our community together by providing a welcoming space for nearby residents to play, picnic, meet new friends, and mark memorable occasions,” said Angelica Fortin, community services director for the City of Paso Robles. “We’re pleased to offer new amenities at Royal Oak Meadows Park that promote healthy, active lifestyles and enhance the quality of life in Paso Robles.”
The Viñedo master developer, Olsen 212, LLC, constructed the improvements. Rick Engineering served as the project’s civil engineering firm. The Olsen-South Chandler Ranch Specific Plan was approved by the Paso Robles City Council in February 2020.
