County 911 service restored after outage
– The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday evening that problems with the state’s 911 system have been resolved and service is fully restored.
The California Office of Emergency Services notified the Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 25 at 8:11 p.m. that the issue affecting all incoming 911 calls in the county had been fixed.
Earlier in the day, the Sheriff’s Office reported that 911 calls were reaching dispatchers but the system was not automatically generating the phone number or location of the caller. Without that information, dispatchers were unable to determine a caller’s location or call back if the line was disconnected. Callers were required to provide their phone number and location during emergencies.
Anyone in San Luis Obispo County who continues to experience problems with the 911 system is advised to call the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch line at (805) 781-4550, option 3.
