Grover Beach police arrest wanted felon after pursuit
– A wanted felon was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle and a recovered loaded firearm, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.
At about 4:23 p.m., a Grover Beach patrol officer located a stolen vehicle near Grand Avenue and 13th Street. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away. Police said the pursuit continued into north Grover Beach and ended at Newport Avenue and 14th Street, where the driver ran from the vehicle into nearby yards.
Grover Beach officers and Arroyo Grande police began searching the area. An Arroyo Grande officer found the suspect in front of Burger King at Oak Park Boulevard and Grand Avenue. Police said the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
During the search, officers recovered a loaded firearm and a 30-round magazine that the driver dropped while fleeing on foot.
Jacob Levi Arvik, 31, of San Luis Obispo, was arrested on charges including auto theft, firearm offenses, possession of stolen property, and possession of burglary tools. Police said Arvik also had two outstanding felony warrants for fraud and theft. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
Grover Beach police thanked community members who assisted during the investigation and acknowledged the support of the Arroyo Grande Police Department.
