– A fundraiser has been launched to support Rogelio Fernandez, one of three civilians severely injured in the Gifford Fire on Aug. 1 while working as a truck driver.
Fernandez was airlifted to a hospital in Bakersfield and is being treated in a specialized burn unit for third-degree burns covering 22% of his upper body. He is expected to undergo multiple surgeries and therapy. His recovery time and length of hospitalization are not yet known.
According to his daughter, Krystal Fernandez, proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward medical bills, hospital visits, monthly expenses, utilities, and the family’s mortgage.
As of Thursday morning, the fundraiser has brought in a little over $7,200 towards the $10,000 goal.
