Medicare beneficiaries can get help reviewing drug coverage options

Free presentation to cover Medicare benefits and health plan options

    – The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program is offering free Medicare Part D drug plan searches during the annual election period from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.

“HICAP recommends Medicare beneficiaries review their Medicare Part D plans annually,” said Ronald Roman, executive director of the Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens. “Each year, the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans change the monthly premiums, deductibles, formularies, gap coverage, and pharmacy networks. It is important that beneficiaries review their current plan to see how it will meet their needs in 2026.”

Beneficiaries can secure the free search service by contacting HICAP to receive a worksheet or by visiting CentralCoastSeniors.org/HICAP to complete an electronic version. HICAP uses www.medicare.gov to run the search based on individual prescription drug use. A custom result will present the three least expensive drug plans.

HICAP provides free, unbiased Medicare information and counseling. It does not sell, recommend, or endorse insurance products. Services are provided through the local Area Agency on Aging.

For information, contact HICAP at (805) 928-5663 or (800) 434-0222, email hicap@centralcoastseniors.org, or visit www.CentralCoastSeniors.org.
