Harvest Festival Dinner and Grape Stomp returns to Opolo Oct. 17
Balkan theme pays tribute to Quinn’s family roots in the region
– Opolo Vineyards will host its annual Harvest Festival Dinner and Grape Stomp on Friday, Oct. 17, at the winery’s estate vineyard in the Willow Creek District. The event will include grape stomping, live Balkan music, dancing, dinner, and wine tasting.
This year marks the 24th consecutive Harvest Festival Dinner and Grape Stomp hosted by Opolo. Winery owners Rick Quinn and David Nichols said the Balkan theme pays tribute to Quinn’s family roots in the region.
“The Balkan theme adds a unique cultural flair to the guest experience,” Quinn said. “This event has been a tradition at Opolo since the early days, and you don’t want to miss it if you’ve never been.”
Tickets cost $160 per guest and $140 for members and are available at Opolo.com. A companion dinner on Oct. 18 is sold out.
Guests will be welcomed with a glass of wine on a lawn terrace overlooking the vineyards. Grape stomping will be offered in shallow vats.
Appetizers will include oysters, bacon-wrapped dates, and spanakopita. Wine stations around the event tent will feature Opolo favorites and small-batch Opolo Reserve wines.
Entertainment will include a performance by the Morava Folklore Ensemble of San Diego and live music from Chicago’s Kirin-Gornik Band, playing Balkan songs and American pop.
The buffet menu, created by the winery’s in-house kitchen, will include whole-roasted lamb, lemon chicken and Sarma, a beef and pork-stuffed cabbage dish. Sides will include rice pilaf, Caesar salad, dinner rolls and Prebranac, a Balkan bean dish with tomato, onion and paprika. Dessert will be a Balkan pastry with cherries in phyllo dough.
“This event is all about our guests having a great time, enjoying new and familiar flavors, and experiencing our best wines,” Nichols said. “It’s the perfect kickoff to Wine Festival Weekend here in Paso Robles.”
