CHP, Atascadero police to hold DUI checkpoint Sept. 20
– The California Highway Patrol Templeton Area announced it will conduct a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Saturday, Sept. 20, in San Luis Obispo County between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m.
The sobriety checkpoint will be a joint operation between the CHP and the Atascadero Police Department. It will be staffed by officers from both agencies trained in detecting alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers. Officers will use breath testing devices to measure the blood alcohol concentration levels of suspected impaired drivers.
A grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is providing funding for the program. Officials reminded the public to “Report Drunk Drivers-Call 9-1-1.”
Armstrong can provide additional information about the checkpoint at the CHP Templeton Area office, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at (805) 400-6720.
The CHP said its mission is to provide the highest level of safety, service, and security.
