Celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at museum

    – The Templeton Historical Museum Society will host a Founders’ Day celebration on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to commemorate the 1886 arrival of the first passenger train in Templeton. The day marked the town as the southern terminus of the train line between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The main house, blacksmith shop, and railroad depot will be open to visitors, showcasing Templeton’s past. Antique vehicles, tractors, and railroad artifacts will be on display, and “Hit and Miss” machinery will be in operation. Blacksmithing demonstrations, live music, and museum viewing will be ongoing throughout the day.

At 12 p.m., members of the American Legion will present the colors, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the Salinan Tribe.

Activities for all ages will include cakewalks, games, and a 4-H petting zoo. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, along with other offerings.

The museum will also offer free pie and cake, available until supplies run out. The tradition has been part of Founders’ Day since 2006.
