City to remove hazardous oak from Downtown City Park
– The City of Paso Robles announced that a holly oak tree in Downtown City Park will be removed after a certified arborist determined it poses a safety risk.
The tree, located next to Santa’s House on 12th Street, was found to have multiple issues. The survey reported canopy decline caused by extensive deadwood, root rot, a stress fracture extending from the root crown up about seven feet above ground, and at least two decay cavities.
According to the arborist’s assessment, the tree is hazardous and should be removed immediately. The city said removal will be scheduled soon to protect park visitors and the community.
City officials stated that trees are evaluated carefully before removal and that safety remains the top priority. Removal will be carried out following best practices for urban forestry management.
Residents with questions or concerns about the removal may contact the city’s Maintenance Services Superintendent at (805) 237-3873.
