Youth performers bring The Sound of Music to local stage
– Applause Children’s Theater will celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Sound of Music with three performances of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical in November at the Christian Life Center, 1744 Oak Street in Paso Robles.
The show will be performed Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Children age 3 and under may attend for free when seated on a lap.
The production will feature 30 advanced performers from Applause Children’s Theater, including Jacy Miller as Maria Rainer and Ben Hasch as Captain von Trapp. The von Trapp children will be played by Scarlett Reswig, Journey Miniken, Nora Glunz, Jackson Hicks, Sophia Nino, Kate Hasch, Coral Manni-Graves, and Alexandra Gatlin.
The performance will include many of the musical’s well-known songs such as “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss,” and “Climb Every Mountain.”
The show is directed by Vikky Mullin and Bobby Horn, with Josh Tarica as music director, choreography by Vikky Mullin, and costumes by Kelly Case-Horn.
Applause Children’s Theater is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring young people through the power of theater. The group provides opportunities for youth to gain performance experience, develop confidence, and build lasting friendships through stage productions.
