California voters to decide on Proposition 50

Elections advocate Darcia Stebbins urged voters to go to the polls and vote in Tuesday’s election.
Voters head to the polls
– Voters are heading to the polls today for Election Day, with just one item on the ballot: Proposition 50, a legislative constitutional amendment that would redraw congressional districts in California.
Proposition 50 would authorize temporary changes to the state’s 52 congressional districts in response to redistricting actions in Texas. Of California’s current districts, 43 are represented by Democrats and nine by Republicans.
The proposed realignment may reduce the number of Republican members of Congress from California and would remain in effect until 2030. San Luis Obispo County is represented by Democrats Jimmy Panetta of Carmel Valley and Salud Carbajal of Santa Barbara.
At the San Luis Obispo County Republican Headquarters in Atascadero on Monday night, elections advocate Darcia Stebbins urged voters to go to the polls and vote in Tuesday’s election.
