Paso Robles ends football season with loss to Kennedy
Templeton, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay and Nipomo advance
– Paso Robles Bearcats football team lost to #5-seeded Kennedy 63-28 in the first round of the Division III play-offs Friday night in Delano. The #12-seeded Bearcats finish the season with a record of 4-7, which is an improvement. Paso Robles ended the two previous football seasons 2-8.
Also in Division III, #1 Shafter (10-1) beat #16 Mission College Prep 38-17. The Royals end their season 3-8.
In Division IV, the #10-seeded Atascadero Greyhounds lost to #7 Nipomo 35-34 in double overtime. The Greyhounds end their season with a record of 5-6. Nipomo (7-4) advances in the play-offs to play #2 Immanuel (10-0.)
Also in Division IV, #1 Templeton (10-0) had a bye in Friday’s first round. Friday night, they will host the #8 Coalinga Horned Toads (9-2), who beat #9 Monache 30-15 Friday night. Templeton beat Coalinga earlier this season 47-14.
San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Arroyo Grande each won their first-round games. Only Arroyo Grande played at home.
In Division II, #11 San Luis Obispo beat #6 Lemoore 42-32 to advance to the second round. The Tigers (7-4) will play Friday against the #3 Redwood Rangers (8-2) at the Mineral King Bowl in Visalia.
Also in Division II, the #4-seeded Arroyo Grande Eagles (7-4) beat #13 Sunnyside 62-14. That’s the Eagles’ 5th consecutive victory. They’ll host #5 Garces Memorial of Bakersfield (7-4) on Friday night.
In Division V, #9 Morro Bay (4-7) beat #8 Delano 51-21. The Pirates will play at #1 Liberty (11-0) in Madera Friday night.
In Division 1-AA, #3 Clovis West beat #5 St. Joseph of Santa Maria 28-7. In Division III, #2 Wasco beat #15 Righetti 57-6. In Division IV, #11 Dos Palos beat #6 Santa Ynez 14-0.
Templeton, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Arroyo Grande, and Nipomo advance to the second round. Templeton and Arroyo Grande will play at home Friday night. San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Nipomo will travel to play higher-seeded opponents in Visalia, Madera, and Reedley, respectively. Both Morro Bay (4-7) and Nipomo (7-4) will face undefeated teams: Liberty (11-0) and Immanuel (10-0).
