Artists fill Downtown City Park for weekend art show

Visitors browsed paintings, carvings and photography under clear November skies

    – Art filled the Downtown City Park in Paso Robles over the weekend.

Artists brought paintings, photography, wood carvings and other media to sell to the public. Visitors strolled through the maze of booths under sunny November skies.

The artists said it went well. “I’ve sold more artwork this visit,” said David Bodell of Los Angeles. Bodell creates wood and metal lamps out of pipes, fixtures, and bulbs. “People are opening their wallets more this year,” he added.

When he’s not creating artwork, Bodell does maintenance on Catholic buildings in the Los Angeles area. He planned a side trip to Mission San Miguel to admire the artwork there.

Michael Rumsey of San Diego creates elaborate wooden surfboards and stand-up paddleboards. “People usually call me a week after the show,” he said. “That’s when I generally make the sale.”

Melissa Beveridge, a San Luis Obispo artist, paints animal portraits, including a series featuring animals from Woods. Proceeds from the portraits go to Woods and other rescue shelters in the area.

Artists arrived from across California, but many were local artists enjoying a beautiful fall day in the Downtown City Park in Paso Robles.
