New yarn shop in Morro Bay to host grand opening during Small Business Saturday
Grand opening includes snacks, drinks, and free gifts
– Small Business Saturday is the perfect time to celebrate local creativity and shop local. Morro Bay Yarn Shop will mark the occasion with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Nov. 29th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 739 Napa Avenue, in Morro Bay.
Morro Bay Yarn Shop’s Owner, Rae Odom, who has a background in education, is bringing her love for teaching and fiber arts together to create a warm, welcoming space where makers of all levels can gather, learn, and create.
“I wanted to build a place where people can slow down, try something new, and enjoy the process of making with their hands,” said Rae Odom. “Fiber arts are not just about the finished project—they’re about connection, creativity, and finding a little calm in a busy world. I can’t wait to share that with the Morro Bay community.”
The shop offers a thoughtfully curated selection of yarns from Denmark, Spain, Portugal, and the United States, focusing on high-quality, humanely produced, traceable fibers. Yarns range from lace to super bulky and come in a variety of colors and fiber contents. Featured brands include international favorites such as Retrosaria Rosa Pomar, Knitting for Olive, and Sandnes Garn, as well as U.S. brands like Kelbourne Woolens, which celebrates the American wool industry through locally sourced and processed fibers. The shop also carries local yarn from Outlaw Valley Ranch, which specializes in Navajo-Churro sheep raised on the Central Coast.
In addition to yarn and tools, Morro Bay Yarn Shop carries crafting kits perfect for holiday gifts, plus books, notions, and accessories for every fiber project. The shop will offer group classes as well as private lessons, giving beginners and experienced makers alike the chance to learn, connect, and share in the joy of fiber arts.
The grand opening will feature snacks, drinks, and free gifts, making it a cozy stop on your way to the Morro Bay Farmers Market and an opportunity to enjoy a community-focused shopping experience. Follow along on Instagram and Facebook: @morrobay.yarnshop.
