Templeton Eagles win home playoff game
– The Templeton High School Eagles beat Coalinga 40-14 to advance to the semifinals in the Division IV, Central Section Playoffs. The Eagles improved to 11-0 for the season. The Coalinga Horned Toads fall to 9-3. The Toads finished 1st in their West Sierra League (5-0).
The Eagles advance to the semifinals in the playoffs. They will face North (Bakersfield), which beat Roosevelt 40-32 Friday night. The North Stars are 7-4 for the season. They are seeded #4 in the Division IV playoffs. Templeton is seeded #1.
The other semifinal game has #3 McLane (Fresno) at #2 Immanuel (Reedley). Both teams are 11-0 for the season. Templeton will host North (Bakersfield) next Friday night at Templeton High School. If the Eagles win that game, they may also host the championship game.
The only other San Luis Obispo County team to win Friday night was Arroyo Grande. The Eagles beat Garces Memorial (Bakersfield) 42-30 at Arroyo Grande High School. In the semifinals, the #4 seeded Eagles will play at #1 Tulare Union (9-2.) The winner of that game will advance to the championship game in Division II of the Central Section.
In other games, Redwood High School Rangers beat San Luis Obispo 54-0 at the Mineral Kingdom Bowl in Visalia. The young Tigers team finishes the season with a record of 7-5. #3 Redwood will play #2 Bakersfield in the other semifinal game in Division II.
Undefeated Immanuel beat #7 Nipomo 32-7 in Madera in Division IV.
Liberty of Madera beat Morro Bay 41-27 to advance to the semifinals in Division V. Bishop Union of Bishop beat Cabrillo of Santa Maria 22-19 to advance to face Liberty in that semifinal game.
