Elegant Evening draws crowds to downtown Paso Robles
Nutcracker Ballet ‘mannequins’ return as popular event feature
– Despite light rain, Elegant Evening attracted several hundred shoppers and revelers Saturday night in downtown Paso Robles. From 5 to 8 p.m., Paso Robles retailers opened their doors to visitors with warmth and entertainment. Live Nutcracker Ballet mannequins, musicians, a barbershop quartet, and merchant holiday specials marked the event.
The Nutcracker Ballet mannequins again highlighted the evening. Dancers stood motionless in display windows and inside stores as onlookers waited to see whether the mannequins would move. Often, the only indication the ballerinas were alive was a blink of the eye.
Elegant Evening Downtown is one of several events in the Paso Robles holiday season. The 39th Annual Downtown Holiday Lighting Ceremony will take place on Friday, Nov. 28. The 64th Annual Paso Robles Christmas Light Parade will be Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. The 39th Annual Vine Street Victorian Showcase will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13.
All holiday events are free. They are organized by the Paso Robles Main Street Association with help from the City of Paso Robles and volunteers.
