Sound of Music sing-along coming to Vina Robles
Tickets go on sale Dec. 19
– Audiences of all ages are invited to sing along during a screening of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Saturday, June 27.
Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster beginning Friday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. local time.
The event will feature a screening of the newly restored 4K version of the 1965 film musical, presented in full-screen color with onscreen lyrics. The Sound of Music is based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers. The film stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer and includes songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, such as “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
The film premiered on March 2, 1965, when 20th Century Fox released The Sound of Music at the Rivoli Theatre in New York City. Directed by Robert Wise, the film played at the theater for 93 weeks. Its initial United States release lasted four and a half years, and from 1966 to 1972, Variety cited the film as the all-time box office champion.
The Sound of Music won five Academy Awards in 1966, including Best Picture.
