Videos show confrontation involving federal immigration agents at county jail
– The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office released video related to an incident that occurred Dec. 14 in the jail lobby involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and protesters.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a confrontation occurred between the two groups that included obscenities directed at the federal immigration agents and physical interactions. The Sheriff’s Office said its employees should not be subjected to disturbances, obscene behavior or foul language while performing their duties.
The video was released to remind the public that this type of conduct is unlawful under Penal Code 602.1, the Sheriff’s Office said. The law applies when a person intentionally interferes with lawful business conducted by employees of a public agency that is open to the public, including obstructing or intimidating employees, visitors or members of the public.
The Sheriff’s Office said individuals who violate the law may be asked to leave the premises and may be arrested if they refuse. Signage has been posted in the jail lobby advising visitors that Penal Code 602.1 will be enforced.
The Sheriff’s Office said the released video contains strong language and obscenities:

It appears that the protesters were there to confront the ICE agents, not the sheriff’s office staff. There is no explanation as to why ICE agents were in the office lobby in the first place. A little more reporting Please!
