Local singer Callie Twisselman makes Grand Ole Opry debut
Twisselman will open for Dolly Parton during a Las Vegas residency in September
– Local singer Callie Twisselman made her Grand Ole Opry debut Saturday during the final show of the year and the closing night of Opry 100 in Nashville.
Twisselman performed “King & Queen of Recklessness” and “Ghost In My Head,” both from her debut EP, “Growing in Grace,” which was released Dec. 5. The appearance marked her first performance at the Grand Ole Opry.
Family members attended the performance, including Twisselman’s grandmother, who traveled by plane for the first time in nearly 40 years to be present. According to event information, she had previously promised to attend if Twisselman ever performed at the Grand Ole Opry.
Twisselman is scheduled to work on new music in 2026 and is set to open for Dolly Parton during a Las Vegas residency in September.
Twisselman’s musical background is rooted in her family’s seventh-generation grain and cattle ranch in California. She was introduced to music through her mother, a touring country singer, and began performing publicly at local fairs and rodeos. She learned guitar at age 15 and started writing her own songs before relocating to Nashville full-time in 2017.
After moving to Nashville, Twisselman signed a publishing deal with Vintern Songs and eOne Music Publishing. She released her debut EP, “Closure,” in 2021, which was produced by Grammy Award winner Aaron Pearce.
In 2025, Twisselman collaborated with Dolly Parton, Jessie James Decker, and Maddie & Tae on the song “Gonna Be You,” which appeared in the long-form interview project “God, Family & Show Business.” She also opened for Jelly Roll in Ontario, Canada, and contributed the song “Together” to the soundtrack for “My Little Pony: A New Generation.”
Twisselman released her EP “Growing in Grace” on Dec. 5, marking her most recent project.
