City of Paso Robles seeks applicants for sales tax oversight committee
– The City of Paso Robles is accepting applications for the Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Committee through Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.
The committee provides a forum for residents to review and report to the City Council of the City of Paso Robles and the broader community on matters related to supplemental sales tax revenues and expenditures generated by Measure I-24, approved by voters in 2024, and Measure J-20, approved by voters in 2020.
The committee serves two primary functions: oversight and advisory. Oversight is the committee’s top priority and focuses on ensuring voter-approved supplemental sales tax revenues are spent in alignment with community priorities established by the City Council. At each regular meeting, the committee reviews financial reports summarizing funds collected and expended, assesses whether funds were used appropriately, and reports its findings to the City Council and the public. The stated goal is for city expenditures in designated priority areas to meet or exceed revenues generated by the measures.
The committee meets quarterly in May, August, November, and February on the third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Meetings are held at a location accessible to the public and typically last approximately two hours.
Committee members serve three-year terms beginning April 1. Applications are currently being accepted to fill two at-large positions.
Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. Applicants should plan to be available to interview in person.
