Obituary of Bill Hoskins

Bill Hoskins.
– Bill Hoskins was born on Nov. 22, 1943, to Homer and Eileen Hoskins in Santa Maria, California. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia “Ginny” Sweet Hoskins; his children, Mack (Jennifer) Hoskins and Kristin (Todd) Van Nuys; his grandchildren, Trent, Brendan, and Drew Van Nuys, and Naomi and Sydney Hoskins; his sisters, Diane (Paul) Courtney and Barbara (Frank) Machado.
Bill grew up in Paso Robles and graduated from Paso Robles High School. Following in his father’s footsteps, he studied Agricultural Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After college, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving with honor in Vietnam and earning five service and commendation medals. Following his military service, Bill built a long and respected career in the almond industry, spending most of his professional life with Blue Diamond Growers. He retired in 2008 as Director of Quality Control and Laboratory Services. Bill and Ginny made Rancho Murieta their home for 41 years.
Outside of work and into retirement, Bill enjoyed fishing and golfing, achieving three holes-in-one over the years. He loved traveling with Ginny and friends, and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, cheering them on at their many sporting events. Bill lived a full and meaningful life grounded in faith, family, hard work, and love. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a true friend to many. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, humor, and the deep love he shared with all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held January 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Rancho Murieta Community Church, with a reception to follow. Private burial at Dixon Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
