Atascadero High School senior Emma Garrett reached her 100th career victory as a varsity high school wrestler, according to Atascadero High School wrestling coach Joe Belmonte.

Garrett began wrestling in seventh grade and frequently competed against boys due to the lack of girls in her local weight class. More than 90 percent of her career victories have come by pin.

In 2024, Garrett won the Central Section California Interscholastic Federation Championship, becoming the first female wrestler from San Luis Obispo County to win a section title. She is a three-time league champion and a one-time All-American wrestler.

In 2025, Garrett represented California at the USA Wrestling National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota, where she competed against athletes from across the country. She has not yet qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation State Championships and plans to pursue state qualification in 2026.

Outside the high school season, Garrett trains year-round and assists with coaching younger wrestlers at Origin Wrestling Club, where she participates as both an athlete and a mentor.

Garrett is an honor roll student and participates in 4-H and Future Farmers of America, where she raises livestock on her family’s small farm.

Garrett has not yet committed to a college and plans to continue wrestling at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in nursing.
