Scholarship fundraiser benefits women in North San Luis Obispo County
– Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) Paso Robles, made up of two local chapters of P.E.O. International, raised nearly $13,000 through its STAR Card fundraiser held in October to support scholarships for women pursuing educational and career goals in North San Luis Obispo County.
The fundraiser included the sale of $50 STAR Cards, which generated $7,000 and provided cardholders with discounts at 60 participating local retail partners. An additional $6,090 was donated directly to each chapter’s foundation fund, which provides need-based scholarships to women in North San Luis Obispo County.
P.E.O. International is a North American organization that has awarded more than $432 million in educational assistance to over 125,000 women. Locally, P.E.O. Paso Robles supports that mission through community fundraising and scholarship programs.
Recent scholarship recipients include Elizabeth, who received a Loving Concern Fund Grant and is training for a career assisting senior citizens. Hannah received the STAR Scholarship for Leadership in School and Community and is majoring in Forest and Fire Science at California Polytechnic State University. Samantha, a single mother, received a Foundation Fund Education Grant and is enrolled in Cuesta College’s nursing program. Kelsey, a mother of two and a Loving Concern Fund Grant recipient, graduated from Cuesta College’s nursing program and is now a licensed registered nurse at Twin Cities Hospital.
STAR Cards for 2026 will be available for pre-order beginning in May.
