County airport opens terminal to rotating local businesses for pop-ups

County airport secures federal grant to tackle water, soil contamination

Multiple local businesses expected to participate each month

    – SLO County Airport announced the launch of Small Business Partners, a pilot program designed to highlight local businesses and enhance the guest experience inside the terminal.

Through the program, small businesses from across the region will be invited to participate in rotating pop-up activations at the airport. The activations will feature local food, beverages, and merchandise and are intended to showcase the character and creativity of the Central Coast. Multiple businesses are expected to participate each month, providing variety for travelers and exposure opportunities for participating businesses.

“Small Business Partners is about collaboration and connection,” said Supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg. “By welcoming local businesses into our airport, we’re helping raise awareness of the incredible entrepreneurs in our community while creating opportunities for them to reach new audiences. This program reflects our shared commitment to supporting small businesses and strengthening our local economy.”

Airport officials said the program also supports ongoing efforts to enhance the guest experience and create a strong sense of place.

“Our airport is often a visitor’s first and last impression of the region,” said Courtney Johnson, Director of Airports. “Small Business Partners allows us to bring the best of SLO CAL into the terminal—local flavors, local makers, and local stories—so guests can experience the community from the moment they arrive. It’s a program rooted in collaboration, unity, and helping businesses thrive together.”

Small businesses interested in participating may express interest through the airport’s website at sloairport.com/business-opportunities/ under the Small Business Partners tab.

Airport officials said the pilot program continues the airport’s focus on community engagement, sustainability, and creating a welcoming experience for travelers.
