Schools to host adults-only workshop on teen substance warning signs
Event will provide a guided look at how alcohol and drugs may be concealed in a teenager’s bedroom
– Paso Robles schools will partner with Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley to host an adults-only workshop focused on helping families recognize signs of alcohol and drug use in the home.
The workshop, titled “Hidden in Plain Sight: Would You Recognize the Signs of Alcohol and Drug Use in Your Home?” is open to families with students in grades 6 through 12. Attendees do not need to be enrolled in Paso Robles Joint Unified School District to participate.
The event will provide a guided look at how alcohol and drugs may be concealed in a teenager’s bedroom. Participants will learn practical tips for identifying warning signs and starting conversations with their children. Real-life examples and visuals will be used, including a sample teen bedroom demonstrating common hiding places.
The workshop is scheduled for Feb. 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Lewis Flamson Junior High School, located at 2405 Spring St. Spanish interpretation will be available.
The event is intended for parents of students in sixth grade and above and is limited to adults only. Students and children are not permitted to attend.
