Garden educator to lead seed-saving workshop at Paso Robles library

    – A seed-saving workshop is scheduled for March 25 at the Library Study Center, where participants will learn techniques for collecting and preserving seeds from vegetables, fruits, and flowering plants.

The event will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 3600 Oak St. Registration is required, and the program is open to ages 16 and older.

Garden educator Sharon Lovelady, a member of Seed Savers Exchange, will present information and techniques intended to help participants improve gardening skills and grow plants sustainably.

Organizers said saving seeds can reduce gardening costs and allow gardeners to grow food over multiple seasons. The practice can also support food security, promote self-reliance, and help preserve plant diversity, including heirloom varieties. Participants may also learn how to adapt seeds to their own gardens and develop new plant varieties.

    Registration opens at 9 a.m. March 6.
