Cal Poly returns home to face Fresno State Tuesday

    – Former Bearcat Carson Turnquist pitched well Sunday afternoon for Cal Poly at Hawaii. Carson relieved the Mustang starter in the second inning and allowed only three hits over the next five innings. The Mustangs prevailed 7-3 to complete a three-game sweep at Hawaii. Carson picked up the win. UH officials named him the game’s MVP.

Most of the Csl Poly players are from California; however, Turnquist and catcher Ryan Tayman are from San Luis Obispo County. Each went away after high school, but returned to play for Cal Poly. Turnquist went to Oklahoma for one year after graduating from Paso Robles High School. After Arroyo Grande High School, Tayman played two years at Cal. Each is now playing well for the Mustangs.

Tayman is hitting .255 with three doubles, a triple, and two home runs.

Tuesday, the Mustangs host the Fresno State Bulldogs.

This weekend, Cal Poly will host Cal State Bakersfield. Turnquist may pitch again on Sunday afternoon.

The Mustang games are broadcast live on ESPN Radio, 1280 am and 101.7 fm.
