– Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast hosted its “Standing With Youth” advocacy event on Thursday, March 26, at its Tom Maas Clubhouse in Paso Robles. The event highlighted statistics regarding youth in San Luis Obispo County.
Attendees included District 5 Supervisor Heather Moreno, Paso Robles Joint Union School District Superintendent Jennifer Loftus, Councilmember Kris Beal, Diane Zannotti on behalf of Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), San Luis Obispo County Superintendent of Schools James Brescia, Andrea Chmelik on behalf of Assemblymember Dawn Addis of District 30, and Amber Tetz on behalf of Representative Salud Carbajal (CA-24).
Maria Fabula, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast, joined Superintendent Loftus and Supervisor Moreno on a panel to discuss the landscape for young people across the county and the challenges they face. The panel addressed how county officials are developing more resources for families in the area and how schools are adapting to the modernization of education.
The organization previously hosted a “Standing With Youth” event at its Railroad Clubhouse in Santa Maria in January. That event highlighted ways the community could support opportunities for young people.
