City council receives update on Highway 46 East overpass project

    – The Paso Robles Community Services Department has announced the first recruitment of the Art and Culture Board. This board has been established by the City Council to aid with administering a public art program. Applications for the Art and Culture Board, along with applicant resumes, are due to the City on Thursday, April 30, 2026, by 5 p.m., with interviews tentatively scheduled to happen on either Wednesday, May 13, 2026 or Thursday, May 14, 2026. Learn more about vacancies and qualifications, and access the application on the city’s website here.

“We’re excited to establish the City’s first Art and Culture Board in 2026, while launching a revised Visual Art in Public Places program,” said Wyatt Lund, Recreation Program Coordinator. “We encourage community members who are passionate and knowledgeable about art to apply and help shape the future of public art in Paso Robles.”

The Art and Culture Board will advise on matters pertaining to visual art in public places within city-owned or city-controlled leased areas. This board will assist with determining art placement locations, reviewing submissions, and selecting qualifying artworks for installation. This five‑member board will meet quarterly, with additional meetings scheduled as needed based on project timelines. To establish staggered terms, the inaugural board will be appointed to a combination of full and partial terms as follows: one one‑year partial term, two two‑year partial terms, and two full three‑year terms. Members appointed to a partial term may reapply for a full term at its conclusion without impacting the allowable limit of three full terms.

In order to qualify for a position, applicants would be required to have a minimum of three years of working, volunteering, or performing in one or more of the following areas of the arts and culture industry, including but not limited to: youth arts and education, performing arts, visual arts, literary arts, and art collection curation. Please submit a resume with your application.

For additional information regarding the Art and Culture Board, please contact Recreation Program Coordinator, Wyatt Lund at (805) 237-3990 or wlund@prcity.com.
