Local resident and housing advocate launches campaign focused on housing, industry, infrastructure, and accountability

    – Michael Massey has announced his candidacy for the Paso Robles City Council District 2 seat in the November 2026 election. Massey, a Paso Robles resident and housing advocate, says he is running on a platform centered on housing, industry, infrastructure, and accountability.

“Paso Robles deserves a council member who listens to neighbors, not one who plays politics,” Massey said. “I’m running because I believe this city’s best days are ahead of us — but only if we make smart, transparent decisions about the issues that matter most to working families: where they live, where they work, and how their tax dollars are spent.”

On housing, Massey said he will advocate for responsible development that expands housing supply at all price points while preserving the character of Paso Robles neighborhoods. He supports streamlining the permitting process, incentivizing workforce housing, and ensuring the city’s land-use policies reflect the needs of current and future residents.

On industry and jobs, Massey said he will work to attract and retain businesses, support the agricultural and wine industries that anchor the region, and create an environment where small businesses and entrepreneurs can grow.

On infrastructure, Massey said he will push for proactive investment in roads, water systems, parks, and public safety, including a clear-eyed approach to the upcoming Measure E-12 sales tax expiration and the city’s unfunded pension liabilities.
On accountability, Massey said he will champion open budget processes, regular community engagement, and a council culture that prioritizes residents over politics.

“I’m not a career politician, and I’m not interested in becoming one,” Massey said. “I’m a neighbor who cares about this community and is ready to do the work. That’s the kind of representation District 2 deserves.”

Massey said he will be meeting with voters across District 2 in the weeks ahead. More information is available at michaelforpaso.com.
