City park playground to close for beehive removal

    – The City of Paso Robles will remove a beehive on the north side of the Carnegie Library in downtown City Park on April 15.

The city said the hive’s location near the playground and the Carnegie Library requires a closed work perimeter that will include both areas.

A beekeeper will conduct the removal with assistance from city staff. Crews will relocate the hive to a location away from the public.

Work will begin in the morning and is expected to last about four to five hours. The city will close the playground and the surrounding area around the Carnegie Library for the remainder of the day to allow any remaining bees to disperse.

City officials said they evaluated options for the removal and will follow established practices. The city said it considered the local environment, including plants and animals, and will prioritize public safety during the work.

For more information, the Public Works Department can be reached at (805) 237-3861.
