School district offers free summer childcare programs
– Paso Robles Joint Unified School District is offering free summer childcare programs for students in transitional kindergarten through middle school.
Through the district’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Program, and in partnership with the YMCA, families with children in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade have access to full-day summer care at no cost. The program provides students with activities, recreation, and continued learning during the summer.
The program will run from June 15 through July 28, with closures on June 19 and July 3. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Programs will be held at Winifred Pifer Elementary School, Glen Speck Elementary School, and Virginia Peterson Elementary School.
At the time of the announcement, approximately 550 spots remained available. Enrollment continues on a first-come, first-served basis.
The district is also partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County to offer free summer childcare for students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade at the Tom Maas Clubhouse.
That program will run from June 15 through July 31, with closures on June 19 and July 3. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Registration is open until programs reach capacity. Families can register online at ezchildtrack.com/prjusd/parent.
