Central Coast Jewish Heritage Festival now a two-day event

    – The Second Annual Central Coast Jewish Heritage Festival will take place May 16–17 in San Luis Obispo, with events scheduled over two days.

The festival is hosted by JCC-Federation of SLO in partnership with SLO Hillel.

Opening night on May 16 will feature a reception and screening of “TOVAH,” a documentary about actress Tovah Feldshuh, directed and produced by David Serero.

“The SLO Jewish community is thrilled to bring back an evening of Jewish community warmth and film,” said Lauren Bandari, executive director of SLO Hillel. “We will open the festival with a special reception and exclusive screening of the film TOVAH on Saturday night, May 16. Not only does this bring our Central Coast community together, but it also highlights the remarkable achievements of Tovah Feldshuh — an inspirational actress and mensch whose work spans Broadway to Netflix — and the enduring strength of Jewish heritage.”

The evening schedule includes doors opening and a reception at 6 p.m., a film screening at 7 p.m., and an optional Havdalah ceremony at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18, and seating is limited. The venue address will be provided upon ticket purchase.

The main festival day will take place May 17 at Mitchell Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The festival will include a performance by the Los Angeles-based Chutzpah Collective.

Attendees can participate in live music and performances, arts and crafts, artisan vendors, wine and beer offerings, traditional Jewish foods and other food and drink options, and children’s activities.

Festival booths will be hosted by local vendors, organizations, and congregations, offering cultural exhibits and educational resources.

“Last year’s festival exceeded our expectations, with more than 300 people coming together in celebration. We’re expecting an even larger crowd this year and the JCC-Federation of SLO is proud to keep building a space where the Jewish community and our neighbors can connect, celebrate, and learn from one another,” said JCC Co-President Nachshon Margalit.

The festival includes participants of all religions and backgrounds, including families, children, students, and seniors.

The event website provides information about general admission, vendor applications, and opening night tickets.
