Obituary of Dorothy Marie Norton, 99

    – On April 6, 2026, Dorothy Marie Norton of Paso Robles passed away peacefully at the age of 99. Born July 18, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Alexander and Elizabeth (née Love) Kish, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and kind friend.

It was love at first sight in 1948, when Dorothy met Frank Norton at a dance at the Aragon Ballroom in Cleveland. They wed the following year, and soon the family grew to four. After a weekend getaway to California, they decided to move to the Bay Area in 1962, planting roots in Mountain View.

Her family remembers the love she shared with Frank and how they were inseparable for 52 years. They especially loved dancing together at the Palo Alto Elks Lodge, traveling to Lake Tahoe, and attending plays throughout the Bay Area.

Her most loved activities were gardening, quilting, cooking delicious Hungarian meals for her family, and playing Bridge with her friends. She had an unsinkable spirit, a keen wit, a great laugh, and was always kind and generous to both family and friends. Towards the end of her time on earth, Dorothy reflected that she had a wonderful life and believed life’s purpose was to be kind to one another.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Frank and her brother Richard Kish. She is survived by her daughter Sheryl Fields (Rick), son Kenneth Norton (Larene), and grandchildren, Erich Fields and Allison Fields (Paul Cheshire).

Special thanks to the staff and residents of Annette Lodge, who were so gracious and dignified in their care for Dorothy. Thank you also to Aevum Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

Remembrances may be made in her name to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation, the SLO Food Bank, or a charity of your choosing.

In honor of her memory and in the spirit of Dorothy, please honor her life’s purpose by being kind to one another.
