Paso Robles Fire Department promotes wildfire readiness steps
Officials encourage defensible space and evacuation planning
– Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services reminded residents during Wildfire Preparedness Week that wildfire readiness requires ongoing effort from the community.
As temperatures rise and vegetation dries, fire risk is increasing across Paso Robles, according to the agency.
Officials encouraged residents to maintain at least 100 feet of defensible space around structures, clear dry vegetation, weeds, and combustible debris, use outdoor equipment safely, avoid mowing after 10 a.m., prepare an evacuation plan, and assemble an emergency supply kit.
The agency said these actions align with the City of Paso Robles’ year-round Weed Abatement Ordinance. Annual property inspections are scheduled to begin next week, and property owners are required to maintain their parcels in compliance to reduce fire hazards.
“Taking action now helps protect lives, property, and our community during fire season,” said Ross Porter.
