Report examines jail, Juvenile Hall, and state prison operations

    – The San Luis Obispo County Grand Jury has released its 2025-2026 inspection report for county law enforcement and detention facilities.

According to the report, the grand jury inspected the Sheriff-Coroner’s Facility, Sheriff’s Crime Laboratory, Sheriff’s Property Facility, San Luis Obispo County Jail, Juvenile Hall, County Psychiatric Health Facility, all actively used city and county detention facilities, and the California Men’s Colony State Prison.

During the inspections and follow-up communications, supervisory staff provided overviews of the facilities and answered questions from jurors.

“Overall, the Grand Jury was satisfied with both the management of the facilities and the professionalism of the staff in their day-to-day operations,” the report states.

The full transcript of grand jury reports is available here.

The website also includes information on how to apply to become a grand juror and provides a citizen complaint form for members of the public to submit complaints regarding county issues.
