Congressman tours Paso Robles packaging company
Flush Packaging says it has eliminated 4.4 million square feet of bubble wrap
– Congressman Jimmy Panetta visited Flush Packaging in Paso Robles on April 6, touring the company’s facility and meeting with its founders.
Flush Packaging, founded in 2019 by Cal Poly graduate and San Luis Obispo County native Heeva Asefvaziri and Randy Baudendistel, manufactures corrugated packaging designed to replace plastic-based materials such as bubble wrap.
During the visit, Panetta observed the company’s packaging design process and reviewed packaging products designed for fragile items, including glass containers used by candle, food, beverage, and skincare brands.
“I was glad to get the chance to tour a local shipping packaging business to learn more about how I can support their important role in our supply chain,” said Panetta. “Always great to see a couple of local boys succeed, and I look forward to seeing the meaningful work Flush Packaging continues to do in our community in the 19th Congressional District.”
“We’re excited to host Congressman Panetta and thrilled at his interest in our local small business,” said Asefvaziri. “We’re very proud of what we’ve built and the over 20,000 small businesses across the country we serve.”
Asefvaziri guided Panetta through the company’s design process from concept to finished product and discussed efforts to reduce plastic packaging waste. The company estimates it has helped eliminate more than 4.4 million square feet of bubble wrap through its packaging products.
Panetta, whose district includes North San Luis Obispo County, also discussed opportunities and challenges facing small businesses in the region with Asefvaziri and Baudendistel.
“Heeva and I both grew up on the Central Coast but I don’t think either of us knew just how many small businesses exist and thrive here in SLO County,” said Baudendistel. “It’s amazing to be able to help and grow alongside other local businesses and share that experience with Congressman Panetta.”
Flush Packaging currently offers more than 200 ready-to-ship packaging designs intended to ship products without filler materials such as bubble wrap and packing peanuts. The company also provides custom packaging design services for businesses across multiple industries.
Company officials said the visit provided an opportunity to highlight the role of locally founded businesses in economic development and environmental efforts.
