Crews contain apartment fire on Morro Road in Atascadero
No injuries were reported during the incident
– An apartment fire in Atascadero displaced one resident Tuesday evening and damaged a neighboring unit, according to the Atascadero Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to 7775 Morro Road, Apartment 24, at 6:08 p.m. on May 19. Crews arrived to find a single-story multi-family residential structure with one apartment unit involved in significant smoke and fire, with possible spread to an adjacent unit.
The department dispatched seven engines, three command vehicles, and five investigators to the scene. Twenty-eight personnel responded.
During operations, a significant fire event occurred while crews deployed hose lines, creating what the department described as a transitional fire attack.
Firefighters knocked down the fire approximately 10 minutes after dispatch. Crews then conducted extensive overhaul operations and remained at the scene for about two hours.
A neighboring apartment sustained smoke and drywall damage. The occupant of that unit was displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross for accommodations.
No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
