Pioneer Day announces queen, marshal

The theme for this year’s parade will be ‘Flags, Freedom and Pioneer Spirit’
– The Pioneer Day Committee has announced the royalty and theme for the 96th annual Pioneer Day parade scheduled for Oct. 10 in Paso Robles.
Cheryl Wilshusen-Savage was named queen, and Steve Hansen was named marshal for the annual event. Organizers said both have been longtime supporters of Pioneer Day traditions.
The theme for this year’s parade will be “Flags, Freedom and Pioneer Spirit,” in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary.

The committee also announced a list of upcoming Pioneer Day fundraisers leading up to the parade:
- Best of the West Tractor Show — May 22-24 at Santa Margarita Ranch during Memorial Day weekend
- Firestone Invitational Beer Festival — May 30 at the Paso Robles Event Center
- “Nashville Nights” — June 4 at Cal Coast Beer Co.
- Concert in the Park — June 13
- Kickoff Party — Sept. 19 at Estrella Warbirds
- 96th annual Paso Robles Pioneer Day parade — Oct. 10
