Paso Robles Senior Center hosts annual Unbirthday party

More than 80 seniors attended the May 19 celebration
– More than 80 older adults gathered at the Paso Robles Senior Center on May 19 for the fifth annual “Unbirthday Birthday Party,” a Mad Hatter-themed celebration honoring birthdays for all attendees at once.
Guests at the event enjoyed pizza, salad, dessert, music, and entertainment during the afternoon gathering at the senior center.
Entertainment was provided by Sandy VaVoom, also known as Sandra Landeros Thomas, and her mother, Kristina Polland. The pair performed songs by Patsy Cline along with other music from the 1960s during a performance that lasted more than an hour.
“We love the Senior Center and are honored to perform here,” Sandy said to Senior Center Staff Assistant Micki Wright.

Guest Ruth Grzybicki reflected on the performance, saying, “I could feel the love between mother and daughter as they performed, and listening to the duo brought tears to my eyes.”
Staff Assistant Elaine Ernst said attendees responded positively to the musical performance.
“Partygoers loved hearing Sandy and her mother perform the Patsy Cline classics,” Ernst said. “Singing along with the duo made the afternoon especially memorable and fun.”
According to the announcement, Sandy VaVoom and Kristina Polland donated their time for the event.
