Solar and roofing company marks anniversary with donation campaign

Funds will support the development of ECHO’s Balay Ko Family Resource Center

A.M. Sun Solar + Roofing is marking its 25th anniversary by partnering with El Camino Homeless Organization to support housing and services for families experiencing homelessness in San Luis Obispo County.

The company announced it will donate $250 for every solar or roofing project contract signed during June, with a guaranteed minimum contribution of $2,500 to the organization’s Building Hope & Home capital campaign.

The funds will support the development of the Balay Ko Family Resource Center at the organization’s Atascadero campus. The expansion will add 30 beds for families with children and include private family rooms, child-friendly spaces, workforce development resources, case management services, and areas designed to help families work toward permanent housing.

More than 300 individuals and families are currently on the organization’s waitlist for shelter and supportive services.

“For the last 25 years, our work has centered around protecting homes and helping families invest in their future. As we thought about how we wanted to celebrate this milestone, partnering with ECHO felt like the obvious choice. It turns out we share more than a passion for this community. We share an anniversary. Twenty-five years of showing up for the Central Coast, and we’re glad to be celebrating that together,” said Mark Miller, owner of A.M. Sun Solar + Roofing.

Construction on the Balay Ko Family Resource Center is underway, and the facility is expected to open in early fall 2026.

The project is one of the organization’s efforts to expand housing resources for families in San Luis Obispo County.

“We’re incredibly grateful for partnerships like this that directly invest back into our local community,” said Tess Davis Cheek, director of development. “Support from local businesses like A.M. Sun Solar + Roofing helps us continue expanding services for families who are working toward long-term stability and housing.”
